Chopped 2013

Chopped 2013... the beginning of a fierce tradition. Mother against daughter, brother against brother, its amazing we're all still friends. Rules of the game: Utilize all of the secret ingredients and impress the judges (taste, creativity, and presentation).

The men's ingredients: round 1: sprite, limon potato chips, tilapia, and artichoke; round 2: puffed rice cakes, black berries, and coconut water. Nefi came out on top! His calm nature, and hispanic roots surly helped him walk away with the prize... however there wasn't an actual prize.

The women's ingredients: round 1: spam, shredded wheat, rutabaga, and naked orange drink; round 2: tootsie pop suckers, green apples, and tortilla chips. Sunde clawed her way to the finish and was chosen as winner of the women's round.

The Gonzalez's shut out the rest of us. I have to say I was surprised. Judge complaints such as overcooked fish and a dessert that was too sweet cost the Nelson's the crown. Better luck next year!

Inspired by an age old Nelson Thanksgiving-eve cook off, this new Collier festivity has enough flair to stand on its own feet. We're already thinking of next years ingredients!
