Lake Powell 2014

The long anticipated and hoped for Lake Powell trip was perfect for us! Because we went in September the weather was cooler, the water was still warm, and the crowds weren't too bad. it was perfect for the 2 new babies we had with the group this year. We had papa Mike piloting the houseboat around and mama Barb organizing the abundant spread of meals we so love on the lake.
We stayed on the beach in our tent- and it was put to the test. We had a storm the second night with some strong winds and quite a bit of rain.  Needless to say we didn't sleep as well that night; however, we stayed dry and safe with lots of sand all over us the entire time.
Most of our time was spent wading in the water with the kids and helping with meals. The kids loved going for jet ski rides, exploring flooded slot canyons on dads back, and the annual rootbeer float trip into Dangling Rope Marina.
We could have stayed a day or two longer and it would have been even better. This is a tradition that has been going on since before I was born (before my parents were even married), and its one time of the year that takes too long to come around, and is over too quickly. We can't wait for next year!

The Zoo

We promised Trace that if we all earned enough money we could go to the ZOO.. We had been talking about it for weeks and tried to learn about many of the animals that would be there. We had a blast and Trace 'earned' ( going to all his aunts and uncles and asking for money) enough money to buy an ice-cream cone.. He loved it!

Swiss Days

We got the exciting invite to work at the famous SWISS DAYS in Midway UT. We had a good time making Swiss nuts and sampling them of course!

Our Garden/Greenhouse

6 rows of plastic, 9 lines of soaker hose, 1 greenhouse, 37 mangy squirrels sent soundly to their maker, and lots of hours we've loved planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. We love our little garden. Thanks to my parents we have the opportunity to have a decent sized garden- we are thankful to be able to use their land and greenhouse! We've encoutered many of the usual obstacles, (beefalow and mini goats pooping in and ripping our hard worked on plastic) but some sacrifices have made it a good growing year so far- among these are morning squirrel shootings, and replanting rogue tomato plants. We've been looking forward to this little garden for years now. Now we have zucchini coming out our ears!
